Near the treetops of a deep wood somewhere up North, an aerial drama is being played out before our eyes. A lone Bald Eagle is patrolling his regular hunting corridor, when out of the fog a pair of ravens swoop in to attack! One is bearing down over the eagle's right shoulder as the eagle screams a warning. A second raven follows at a distance, preparing to join the melee. The bare birch trees and the gray, enveloping fog add an eerie mood to this fascinating specter of nature.
This harrying behavior is not uncommon between these rivals for food and territory. Anyone who's witnessed it knows it is a rare, thrilling sight to behold.
